The Black Travel Summit (BTS) hosts an annual summit and other year-round events celebrating and educating the tourism industry on Black travel professionals, entrepreneurs, and travelers.
To-date, BTS has conducted two webinars, 35+ micro virtual events, 3 live mini summits, 2 global summits, and brought together over 200 of the Black travel industry’s most renowned experts, influencers and partners to exchange and generate ideas about collaborating and expanding Black involvement in tourism. We’ve also seen more than 10,000 attendees to-date!

- According to MMGY, the economic value of Black travelers in 2019 had grown over 51%, compared to the previous year, to $129.6 billion being spent on domestic and international leisure travel by U.S. travelers, and $29.9 billion being spent by Black travelers from the UK/Ireland, Germany, Canada and France.
- The Mandala Research Firm has released a report that states 17% of Black Americans take one or more international trips and travel locally more than six times per year. 42% of Black Americans said they would spend more in 2020 on travel than 2019 (pre-Covid), and 50% of Black adults (16% more than the general population) are more likely to travel to locations associated with their ethnic or cultural heritage.
- An Airbnb survey shows that 50% of Black adults plan to travel to locations or landmarks associated with their ethnic or cultural heritage. This is 16% higher than the general population.
- A report by Digitas has shown that 72% of Black millennial travelers say that when a brand acknowledges their ethnic/racial background, it makes them want to book with that brand.
- The Castell Project has Black representation in leadership for the public face of the hospitality industry is not making the gains necessary to show opportunity to Black employees in most companies.
